about

The first in 4 years Magic Carpathians' album is available also as a vinyl LP. The recording session started in 2013 - we took time to craft the acoustic, ethno-inspired, psychedelic journey to the primordial realms of interspecies communication. This is why the compositions on the album bear names of particularly important plants (or their parts) which imbued us with the vision of another world. We called this endeavor "symbiotic music".
On a more physical realm the music comes from a plethora of instruments, both acoustic and analog electronic, such as the collection of traditional Carpathian woodwinds (Slovakian fujara and Hucula trumpet), luur trumpet from Scandinavia, modified santoor dulcimer, kueezee gongs from Myanmar, Chinese guizheng, Indian dilruba to name just a few. Magic Carpathians also employs the newly invented acoustic instruments, such as daxophone (design of which has been inspired by Hans Reichel) or tank drum. Home-made, analog sound generators are accompanied by Moog synthesizer, modified electric organ and energetic bass guitar.

"this is a fucking incredible album and I’m overjoyed to be reviewing it."

"This is possibly the greatest music I’ve ever heard from Poland barring Chopin. It’s an album you absolutely need to hear. If it wasn’t so enrapturing I’d say it’s a masterpiece of relaxing background music but, it transcends both the background and the foreground as an all encapsulating listen. I can almost imagine running through the woods to this track delirious and blissed out with feathers in my hair and paint dripping down my face. Lost in a wilderness of euphoria chanting and throat singing in tribal sublimity."
